People Watching

Uni has been on for 2 weeks already. Will be stepping into week 3 very very soon. Quizzes, assignments and other assessments would pour in like rain soon too. And before I know it, I will be sitting for my finals again. Then it'll be the more-than-3-months break which I can't wait for! hehe

I only go to uni 3 times a week. But I spend overly long hours there each time I step foot on its compound. Like Thursdays, 2 tutorials with a 6 hour break in between is in sane! Maybe time should be spent at the library in a cubicle, instead of the law lounge where I just eat and chatter chatter chatter. haha

Mondays are the best now! Not too tiring, except for the 2 hour accounting lecture I start the week with -.-
Short breaks in between allow me to people-watch. Only if the weather permits this activity.

The weather was 'perfect' last Monday. I just sat at the steps near Robert Webster with a bottle of fruit juice. Took out my camera from my handbag and started snapping some random things around me.

Sitting down alone allows me to clear my mind and think about what I've to accomplish for the week. Fortunately, the Sun was giving out heat that day (: The not-too-strong wind also managed gave me fresh air. Not too bad an activity to do actually.

As I was just sitting down, I noticed many things. Actually, I was just observing how students dressed to uni. But I was just observing the girls. haha

I noticed that most girls were very casual. Just t-shirt and jeans with a hoodie and a pair of converse. The most comfy outfit you can wear to uni actually. My staple during exam periods, when you don't have time to think of what to wear (with all the stress and pressure). But t-shirt hoodie and jeans doesn't provide me enough warmth during winter! Seriously... Only short coats and trenchcoats would work for me these 3 months.

On the other hand, some girls are just too OTT (over the top). I mean..short glittery dresses to uni with a colourful bag? Really? Where you going??? To a party or to get an education?

I also spotted a couple of girls rocking the vintage look. Some carried it off really well I must say. With the lace dress/ top without looking ah-ma. And that vintage messenger bag over your shoulder. Well done! But I realised that not many Asians can pull of that look. Well, I'm not saying all Asians can't. Just those who happened to walk pass me that day.

Oh, and UNSW-ians (girls) are not headband people. That whole day, I only spotted 3 girls with headbands on. No Blair Waldorfs here. haha

So anyway...Here are some pictures I took.

Clear blue sky (:

See what winter does to the poor tree?
Shoes were killing my feet!

Looking forward to a better week!
Hope yours went well (:

It's been awhile

Whoopsie... My updates hasn't been frequent lately. If I continue on like that, I can foresee my blog being one of my abandoned projects. haha. This.Shall.Not.Happen. 'Cos I actually do like blogging! Just writing and writing and writing into the cyberworld. hahaha :P

I wanted to upload some pretty pictures on this post..But all the pics are still in my memory card. Haven't got the mood or the time to transfer them, even though it takes less than a minute to do so. hehe.. Lazy much?

I've been working on completing tutorial work this morning. Went out to get some food and once I got home, I started surfing the net. "Window shopping" on shopbob.com is fun, but very dangerous too. Don't worry..I've only been window shopping. There's nothing in my cart and it will stay that way (: I'm sticking to my budget. "Live within your means" is what I'm doing. haha

But I will just share with you the items which caught my eyes. hehe

Look at this Tory Burch handbag! So striking in that hotpink colour! The perfect bag if you're wanting some attention, strolling down the mall.

The design of the bag is pretty nice. But if I were to get it, definitely not this pink! Maybe a toned-down grey colour will work for me. Don't worry, this pink is not the only colour available. hahaha

These are some items that I actually fancy.

This black clutch! Perfect for evenings out or prim-and-proper dinner outings.

And you can put on the strap for a more casual look (:
This rattan clutch is pretty cool too. The last time I saw a rattan clutch was one by Ted Baker. This is for the chilled and laid-back look. Would be absolutely suitable for summer! (And Malaysia has summer all year round...hehe) :P

Shopaholic is on strike now! Shopping will be kept to a minimal (:

Hope my handbag/clutch fantasies did not bore you. haha

Good News, Brother!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been just very busy and lazy tired these few days. haha

This should be a quick one before I start clearing off my tutorial work. Sigh.

Well, the good news for the day is that the brother passed his Part II CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). A prestigious qualification sort after in the financial world. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. 'Cos it requires hardcore studying...I mean Hardcore. As well as brains (I think). haha..And not to mention, the passing rate is usually less than 30% worldwide.

Well, at 22 with a CFA under your belt, I guess you're set for life (I mean...Who wouldn't be when you have the  ability to demand a minimum wage of US$ 50 k per annum now???). I'm secretly very proud of you. I know you won't read this, so yea...I said it...I'm proud of you. (: The parents are obviously over the moon right now.

And now, you just set the bar Even higher for me. Thanks a lot dude! haha..Just kidding. I know, like you always say... "No pressure". But seriously??? No pressure??? I'm feeling it already! HAHAHA

Hope all the job offers will start pouring in for you. And good luck with Part III. One more to go dude! And you'll be a fully qualified Financial Analyst. Just one more step to achieving your dreams. Well, I think that's your dream. haha

I can't wait for you to get The Job. I'm still waiting for my dinner at Rockpool as well as some of the bags you say you'll get me when you get a full-time job. :P

An absolutely bright future awaits you. (:

I'll have to work hard and catch up now. hehe

Old School Baking

"We rock it old school!" hmm..Is that a line from White Chicks or something? Haha

But yes..I did some baking the old school method today. Instead of using my new handmixer, I used a whisk. I have no idea why I opted for that. Hmm...maybe 'cos I was a lil upset before baking. Using the whisk to beat the eggs was an outlet to release some anger and dissatisfaction I guess. haha. But before handmixers were invented, didn't it take just too much effort to bake? LoL

I made a simple sponge cake. Beating the eggs till they were stiff wasn't a very easy task I must say. My arm hurt so bad after that. I had to keep asking my mom "Is this ready yet?" And she'll go "Beat it for awhile more". Definitely not something I like hearing at that time.

Just stood in the same position for about 20 mins. Well, I think it was 20 mins. I actually don't know. Didn't check the time. But it did feel like That long. haha

And finally I got the egg white looking like this!

After adding in the egg yolk, sugar and self raising flour, I managed to get this...

Actually it looks the same. Just a bit yellow-er 'cos of the egg yolk and the texture was thicker cos of the self-raising flour.

This went straight into the oven for 20 minutes and became this..

Yayy!!! Success :D

Oh..and since I was on a baking roll. I made chocolate chip cookies too!

This happens to be my family's favourite at the moment. You just get so satisfied when something you bake or cook gets comments like "Mmmm...this is yummy!" :D

I made all these in under an hour! This is fast! Well, I got a kitchen helper at the moment... Mummy. hehe

Gosh, sugar rush no? :P

Anyway, this is random info but BBM is being a pain these few days. Grrrrr... The boyfriend is usually just a BBM message away, but my conversations have been cut really short now due to its inefficiency. -.- Please BBM, fix yourself soon. Thank you! (:

Hope your weekend is going great!

Ironic

Many people think customer service is pretty bad in Malaysia. Well, maybe you'll bum into 'I'm so reluctant to work today' cashiers in the supermarket once in awhile. They don't smile nor do they say "How are you today?"

People think the service is excellent here. Yea, 'cos probably many of them cashiers here are proud of their job. It's a goooood thing! (: I mean..of course they're happy to work here. The pay is so much better than the pay one would get back home (KL). Oh well...

Anyway, I came across this disgustingly rude sales assistant today. I was on a mission to find the perfect present since one of the cousin's birthday is coming up. And I was also scouting around for a new pair of flats. The one I have now is pretty worn out already.

So yea..I was just browsing around at Forever New in MidCity. Since the sales assistant was just right next to me, I asked "Excuse me...Do you have a pair of these in size 6?" with a smile on my face. She just answered "No we don't" without any eye contact and walked off. Then I noticed another lady asking her for assistance and she sighed and mumbled some crap. Dudeeee, is this how you treat your customers??? Seriously...Didn't you get some training of some sort??? What, you think we're wasting your time is it? Or is it because you think we can't afford to buy the stuff at your store? Pfft...

After all that nonsense, I walked into Ferragamo just for fun. haha. Actually 'cos I saw a small sign which reads "Sale". I went in to window shop and to look at my Varina flats. Even the colour which I want is available. :D And the sales assistant was so helpful and friendly too. As I was looking at all sorts of colours the Varinas came in, she came up to me with a Varina (Salvatore Ferragamo Pink Edition). It was baby pink, and the buckle was encrusted with pink Swaroski crystals. Very pretty. But HAHAHAHAHAHA, I was thinking "Do you think I can actually afford it? I'm on a student budget here y'know?" And yes she knows I'm a uni student (she asked me earlier on). Before I walked out the store I had to thank her for her time and said "I'll think about it" (: But gosh, everyone knows it's a lie! I want it now! No need to think about it! :P

Oh well, start saving for your Varinas now, Tiffany. Yes, I could ask Mr. Yap here for some ka-ching since he's still here. But as the brother says "Buy your own la. You get all these also no glory la you. Use your own money". Hmm...I need an internship now. *determined tone*

Once I get my hands on my Varinas with my own hard-earned money, I'll smack them right in front of your face Mr. Yap Jr.! hahaha. No la I won't..Just kidding. :P

That's a very random post I know. But ever since uni started, I've lost my blogging mojo and nothing interesting has been happening. yawn.

Time for Gossip Girl now! :P

Simple Maths, No?

Some things just crack me up. Was having this conversation with the brother and cousin a few months back.

Bro: Eh..is this Ted Baker shirt nice?

Me: Yea...But it's 80 pounds. I'm sure you can get a Ted Baker for less than RM 400.

Bro: Yea..but it's 400.

Me: So? It's still less than 80 pounds.

Bro: The figure is so big. It's nearly 20% of a fresh grad's wage back home.

Cousin: That's why when I go back for hols I don't shop much. The figure on the price tag is like so big.

Bro: Exactly. It puts me off.

Me: Huh???

I'm still wondering to myself what's their logic. Do the conversion and it's basically the same, whether you shop in sterling pounds or aussie dollars or Malaysian Ringgit. Same thing, no?

And the thing about shopping in Malaysia, you get to 'divide', rather than 'multiply'. hehe. Although this rule doesn't apply to me cause I'm not earning any Aussie Dollars. My mom says I'm spending Malaysian Ringgit in Australia. Which means the 'multiply' rule applies to me here, and when I'm home I don't get to use the 'divide' rule. Crapp..

And you thought university graduates are able to think rationally. Hmm..Maybe they just can't do simple maths anymore.

I find their logic hilarious!

First Day Back

I was dreading to go back to uni. The thought of starting the hardcore studying sessions again seemed kindda frightening. Not to mention the many sleepness nights which awaits me. Yes, all these thanks to mid-sem tests, a few random quizzes here and there as well as assignments. The wonderful life of a uni student aye?

Having to go back to uni on a Monday morning wasn't very appealing. Mind you, I have to start at 9 am. This means the peak hour traffic with loads of people battling it out to get on a bus. (Daddy, you got me my international driver's license but no car???) haha

When I step foot in uni, I was kindda excited. Weird, no? I don't know what I'm looking forward to actually. haha. Maybe a more organised life. Sometimes I can do with some form of pressure in my life. Pressure makes me get my arse up and start working to achieve my goals. With no pressure or push, I'll just be lazing around, wasting time (even though I truly enjoy my lack of activeness). But let me emphasize the word Some. I don't mind some pressure. Not Loads of pressure where I feel the weight of the Earth on my shoulders. haha.

Hmm..Accounting 1B wasn't so bad was it? At least the lecturer made it sound fun. Gosh it better be like that for the next 11 weeks! Oh, Quantitative Analysis, you better treat me well! (: I'll promise to do my part, but please don't be too nasty. If it wasn't for my goal of becoming an Economist of some sort, you won't be in my life QA. haha

And yayy!! Look what I've got!

Malaysia CLEO Magazine! Basically the only magazine I read when I'm back home. Managed to get it thanks to Jie Han. Gosh, I feel kindda bad making him buy it. Imagine the faces he got from the newsagent uncle! HAHA

I've been looking at some fancy stuff in the mag. Can't wait to get home to buy them. Ted Baker, hold that purse for meeeee! hehe

On a random note, I noticed that Dior made a sweet and pretty ad. for Miss Dior Cherie. Love the soft pink roses, ribbon, pink statement dress as well as the model's expression. haha. It all comes together pretty well.

Yayyy!!! No uni tomorrow! :D (I only have 3 days of uni a week. Envy me) :P

Sydnisiders Get Some Sun!

The weather this weekend has been awesome! It's been really sunny :D I feel so happy typing it out I don't know why. haha

Why can't winter be like this everyday? Seriously...It'll make me less grumpy for sure...haha..

These are just random pics I managed to snap! Are you loving the Sun like me?

The temperature was 19C today. Haven't felt this warm in agessss! I even had the chance to wear open toe heels! yayyy! :P

So how do you enjoy and relax in this friendly weather?
Perhaps a cup of camomile tea with some honey! (:

I've also used my time pretty well today...I've been doing this..

Won't reveal what it is just yet. Will do once I'm done with it...

I should be reading my lecture notes now preparing for tomorrow. Oh gosh! :S

Gotta run now folks!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Ahhh Choooo!

Been sneezing non-stop for the past hour. Hmm..Not a good idea to get sick during winter. Actually, not a good idea to get sick at any time of the year for that matter.

Haven't slept so much in a very long time. Spent the afternoon sleeping yesterday. Went to bed at 11 pm last night and I only woke up at 12 this afternoon. It's amazing how I can sleep so much. haha

Currently on medication. Flu medicine makes me so drowsy that I'm in bed most of the time. My mom also makes me drink this vitamin C drink called Redoxon. (Orange flavoured)..and to be honest, it's quite yumm. haha. Taste like orange soda! And I love observing the effervescence and the sound it makes! I'm weird like that. haha.

Managed to watch Ghost of Girlfriends Past yesterday. It featured Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.I don't know how to give reviews on movies. All I can say is, I won't go to the cinema for this. If it involves watching the pirated version on my laptop, then yea I'm in for it. haha..Not a very interesting show I guess.

I'll just stick to reading Shopaholic Goes Abroad for now. Since I'm also immobile. Don't I sound like a whinny old lady? haha..

I'm sorry. Forgive my annoyance. Hope I'll have something worth blogging soon.

Eat.More.Chocolate

I spent this afternoon walking around the city with the girls.  I spent the afternoon walking around the city with Hong Ing. Rachel only joined us for food a few hours later. haha

I suppose I made the day pretty productive. Managed to do some stationary shopping. Yes, I need notebooks for uni. I shall be making my own notes consistently every week now. As everyone says, next semester we'll all study harder. Hmm...Wonder how long that would last. haha..Oh well, I'm determined.

It's still the stock take sale. Nearly bought a pair of ballerina flats from Myers. It says "Take a further 50% off". Now, you must understand that you rarely see 50% off in Sydney. The most you get during sale is 40%. It sucks like that shopping here. I was contemplating whether or not to get those flats. They fitted well, and of course..fits my student budget. Hong Ing was going "Buy laaa". If you know me well, I'm easily tempted.

BUT...I managed to overcome my temptation this time 'round. Reckon I should be more careful with my spending..andddddd I didn't actually like it That much. I buy shoes which go "You must buy me" when I see and pick them up. haha..This pair didn't go like that. So I put them back and walked away. (:

Went to Max Brenner again after uber long. Too long actually. haha. Had to get there for some chocolate-loving time. :P

This place has a warm and cosy atmosphere. Perfect for the chilling and catching-up with friends session.

Signature mugs for sale
Chocolates for sale :D

Their desserts are also oh-so-yummy. Thank God for places like this! They should have one in KL. We had our usual tutti-frutti waffles and chocolate fondue. Yummerrrrrrs! :D

Tutti frutti
Chocolate Fondue
Eat More Chocolate. I say YES to this!

Rachel also bought 3 cupcakes from Cupcake Bakery for us. She bumped into that lovely store on the way to meeting us. She's nice like that. (:

Chocolate makes me happy! But a 'lil too much makes me sick too. There's a fine line there. haha

Now I have to drink more water and exercise!

It was great hanging out with the girlies! (:

A lil bit of today...

I cut my hair today! If you've read my older entries, you would know that I'm wanting to get this haircut for quite some time now.

So I finally got it done today. And I....kindda regret it. It's shoulder-length now. But I'm still not used to it. I look extra kiddo right now and more Chinese too. haha.. I don't know how to explain that. But don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with looking Chinese. I already look like a Chinese, but don't wanna look More Chinese. Ok, I better stop now before you think I'm racist. haha. The brother was laughing when I got home with the new haircut. Boo him!

Before

After..I need the shades to make me look cool :P

Hope it grows a 'lil more before uni starts next week! yikes!

On a totally different topic. I was talking to the boyfriend last night. He told me something alone this line, "Don't let the past define your future". He didn't say it exactly in this way, but you know...that's the meaning I guess. hahaha..And it actually got me thinking. It's true isn't it? Don't let disappointments in the past affect you. There's always new beginnings. (:

Another random doodle for the day.

Haha..That's pretty much how I lived. Since I'm the baby of the family, the brother has always set a bar for me to achieve. Not a bad thing I supposed. At least I have a target to achieve and over the years, it worked as a driving force.

Hmm...for now..the bar is to graduate with a distinction. I can do it! :D

Not So Sunny

It was surprisingly cold today. It felt friggin cold in the house I don't know why. Winter annoys me.

I woke up rather early (around 10am) for fear of running into some trouble with the parents. I actually set my alarm clock to ring at 9 am. What am I doing, waking up at 9???
But I only managed to drag myself out of bed an hour later. haha

Just had my drama on the whole day. I need to finish all these before uni starts! If not, it'll be a greaaaaaat distraction. Speaking of which, I have to get ready mentally for uni again. It's next week! Nooooo... My mom just asked me whether I need any stationary and notebooks for uni. hahaha Gosh, I feel like I'm in primary school all over again. :P

Since my mom is around, she's been doing all the cooking. I haven't been cooking for the past 3 weeks! I did once last Saturday when the parents went out for a concert at night. Had to cook for the brother and myself. With the lack of practice, I ended up cutting my finger. Jeezzz..

Anyway, we made chicken schnitzel for dinner. Here are some pics.. I realized I'm not a good blogger 'cos I don't have the camera with me all the time to capture "the moments". haha..Oh well...

I had an idea to bake the potatoes and carrot. haha

And I had half of this for dessert...I actually prefer Mars bars.

Didn't really satisfy though
And look what I found in the Asian grocery...

Teh Botol! My new found favourite drink. Umm..for you Malaysians, you probably go "Huh? What's this?". It's an Indonesian thing. Apparently all Indonesians love this. Got introduced to this while having lunch with Yoz at Ayam Goreng 99 last year. Ever since, I'm hooked! haha. The boyfriend is probably laughing while reading this right now. :P

Another random doodle for the day!

So true ain't it? (:

Doodles!

Today was pretty much normal. Woke up at 430 am to watch the World Cup finals. This is the only match I watched for the World Cup this year. Amazing aye? haha.. Didn't want to wake up actually, but since it's the finals, and Spain is in it..Why not? Plus, the brother actually woke me up. And thank God Spain won! :D I didn't wake up for nothing. hehe

I think the match went on till 7am. I went back to bed straight after and only woke up at 12 something. Life's good! :P

Anyway, I did some doodling today. It's meant for my scrapbook actually. Here are some random doodles.

I heart desserts! Yes I do!

And I took this pic of a Royal and a half bitten one. Biscuit and marshmallow coated with chocolate! yummm...My favourite after tim tams! hehe..

I crave for red velvet cupcakes now. Cupcake Bakery, where are you? LoL

Macaroons!

I was surfing the net earlier on and I came across images of macaroons! yummmm..hehe. So I decided to blog about macaroons today. :D

I'm actually not aware of any famous cafes or restaurants in KL which offer macaroons. Hmm...Must.Find.Out. hehe..But I remember having macaroons at some hotel a couple of years back. Can't remember where though. Sigh..My memory fails me sometimes.

Anyway, we have Adriano Zumbo here in Sydney! Yayy!! Adrian, Hong Ing and I travelled all the way to Balmain one fine Saturday just to have brunch there. I specifically wanted to go there just for his macaroons. haha..He's pretty famous here. But his cafe is just too small. Like seriously..if you get there too late, you gotta wait for a table. Correction..small, tiny table. And his bakery gets really packed too. The line starts from the cash register till customers are out the door! Craziness!

Brunch was ok. But the dessert was oh-soo-yummyy..had crepe which was awesome..and this giant macaroon with ice cream kindda thing. It's called "I'm not a hamburger". haha. But sorry for not having a picture of that giant macaroon here. I was busy stuffing all these food down my throat :P hehe

The macaroons look really pretty. So many colours! But beware..Some of the flavours weren't very yummy I must say. A mistake I made was just telling the guy behind the counter that I wanted each of every flavour. I didn't even look at the flavours! I was just too excited with all the colours. haha.

If you have a sweet tooth like me, you'll like all these. :P Just a bit of advice..Hit the gym after all these desserts! I'm serious. haha

Maybe I'll pay another visit to Zumbo again. Soon :P
